Day 8: So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt?

READ: Numbers 14:3

There’s a song from the 80’s written by Christian singer / songwriter, Keith Green, entitled, “So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt?” Verse one goes like this:
“So you wanna go back to Egypt, where it’s warm and secure. Are you sorry you bought this one-way ticket when you thought you were sure? You wanted to live in the Land of Promise, but now it’s getting so hard. Are you sorry you’re out here in the desert, instead of your own backyard?”
I think if Keith Green gave a concert at the Israelites’ camp that night a resounding “Yes!” would’ve been their response. How often when the going gets tough, when God asks us to suffer, wait, endure, or fight do we just want the warmth and safety of our “own backyards?”

THINK:
-Why are we often surprised by the hardship?
-Read and meditate on James 1:1-12, Mark 8:34, Romans 8:31-37.
-In this passage from Numbers, what are the Israelites focusing on? What are they forgetting?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
Spend time remembering who God is and worship Him for all of it. Ask Him to reveal to you what He is going to give you so that you can conquer your fear, face the challenge, obey His command, and step into His vision. Write it down. Give thanks.
