Day 18: True Friends

READ: Numbers 14:12-21

Here we have the Lord - angry and planning to destroy and disown his people - with Moses desperately trying to talk Him out of it. It’s an amazing exchange between God and man – a true dialogue between friends. A couple of observations:
  • God gets angry.
  • He is emotional.
  • God and Moses are friends.
  • Moses is protective of God’s reputation.
  • Moses feels free to reason with God and remind Him of His attributes.
  • God feels free to change his mind.

THINK:
-Do any of those observations of God, Moses, and their relationship surprise/encourage you?
-How would you compare your friendship to God with Moses’ friendship to God? Is there more you want from your relationship with Him? If so, what?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
Pray to God like Moses spoke to Him – engage in the dialogue, friendship, and person of our Lord Jesus Christ. From Genesis through Revelation, it has been God’s desire to be in relationship with us. Pray and meditate on these verses - James 4:8, Psalm 139, and John 21:1. As God expands, lengthens, and strengthens Two Rivers Church’s ministry, pray He expands the amount of people who come to know Him, lengthens our reach to those needing Him, and strengthens our resolve to know Him better each day.
