Day 11: Speaking Truth

READ: Numbers 14:7

While Moses and Aaron lie on the ground, Joshua and Caleb (with torn robes) appeal to the congregation – with the truth. As eyewitnesses of The Promised Land, Joshua and Caleb remind their people that the land which God promised, the land they are supposed to conquer, is not only good - it is exceedingly good. Beyond expectation.

THINK:
-Have you ever gotten yourself so worked up over a situation that you’ve bought into the lies and exaggeration of what could happen? Have you ever, like the Israelites, let those around you stir up your emotions and play on your fears?
-If so, what did it feel like to hear a voice of reason and encouragement speak into your predicament?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
-Meditate and pray on John 8:31-2: Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
-Listen to Casting Crown’s song, “Voice of Truth.” Let the chorus inspire the “spirit of Caleb” in you:

“But the Voice of Truth tells me a different story.
The Voice of Truth says ‘do not be afraid.’
The Voice of Truth says ‘this is for My glory.’
Out of all the voices calling out to me, I will choose to listen and believe the Voice of Truth.”
