Day 2: Reconnaissance Mission

READ: Numbers 13:17-20

Is this Moses or General Schwarzkopf? I don’t know about you, but I’m impressed. Here we have (as God described him in chapter 12) the “humblest man on earth” preparing his leaders for their first recon mission. Moses clearly and unequivocally lays out the plan – where they are to go, the questions they need to answer, and what they need to bring back to camp. His combination of humility and authority is inspiring.

He also seems to have a deep understanding of how life on Earth works. Even though the land of Canaan had been promised to the Israelites, Moses doesn’t sit back and wait for its delivery. Instead, Moses readies himself and his people to go out and claim the promise through leadership, strategy, focus, and some good recon work.

THINK:
-Again, reflect on God’s promises to you. What reconnaissance work needs to happen in order for you to claim that promise.
-How is God calling you to stand alongside the leaders of Two Rivers Church? Is He calling you to take on a leadership role?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
Thank God for the leaders of Two Rivers Church. Ask Him to continue giving them strategies for our mission. Ask how you can encourage, support, and join them. Ask the Lord to reveal His strategies for your life. Pray for humility like Moses as we pursue the promises of God.
