Day 15: Complete Disobedience

READ: Numbers 14:10

Well, the congregation obviously did not have ears to hear the Word of the Lord spoken by Joshua and Caleb. As the crowd cried out to stone them, I am sure Moses, Aaron, Joshua, and Caleb looked on in disbelief. After Joshua and Caleb’s encouraging exhortation about the good land, God’s promises, presence, and power - all the Israelites can think to do is stone them!? Exasperating.

As a reader, if you are frustrated by the Israelites’ response – you can only imagine how God felt. He has promised them victory. All they have to do is have the courage to walk it out and they will finally be able to go home to a new land flowing with milk and honey. They have the instructions, God’s presence, and the promise of home to motivate – and yet, all they can think to do is stone the leaders. They couldn’t have made a worse decision. A fatal error for sure.

THINK:
-Think about when you were at a crossroad of decision and remember your choice. Did you make a right or a left turn?
-Did you follow God or rebel? What was the outcome?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
Pray that God exposes any foolish or wicked way in us. Ask Him to save us from ourselves – our fear, rebellion, apathy, or lack of faith. If you are at a crossroad of decision, take time to ask the Lord which way you should go. Lastly, celebrate all He has done and will do as we continue to believe Him.
