Day 1: Spying On The Promised Land

READ: Numbers 13:1-16

In this passage, the Lord gives Moses a command. He is to pick 12 leaders to go and spy on the land God is “giving to the people of Israel.” A question comes to mind: Why spy on a land that God already assured you would be yours one day? Immediately I am reminded of the truth about promises. Often times when God gives us a promise we assume (hope) it will come to us on a silver platter with a bow around it. But more often than not, we have to claim the promise – fight for it, go out and get it, suffer for it. I guess it wasn’t any different for the Israelites. The Promised Land waited for them, but it would have to be fought for and won.

THINK:
-What has God promised you? How have you had to fight for that promise? What do you need to do to claim God’s promises to you?
-How might any of this relate to Two Rivers Church and our new season of expanding, lengthening, and strengthening?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
Thank God for the promises He has already fulfilled in your life and remember what you needed to do to attain those promises. Take some time to remember His promises to you. Ask Him to reveal what you need to do to claim those promises. List them too. Ask the Lord about his promises to Two Rivers and what they have to do with you. Listen. Wait in silence. Write down any thoughts, responses, or impressions.
