Day 16: The Glory of the Lord

READ: Numbers 14:10-11

The cry to stone them echoed through the camp when suddenly the presence of the Lord God Almighty appeared in the tent of meeting to everyone present. Can you imagine the hush that must have settled over the crowd as the glory of the Lord beamed out from the meeting place? Along with the growing silence, there must have also been a few “uh-oh’s.”

When the presence of the Lord manifests itself or you feel His spirit rise in you, there is nothing quite like it. It’s as if everything comes to order, truth is crystallized, and only what matters stands. And if - when God’s glory appears - you are in the midst of foolishness and rebellion, the feelings of regret and shame are strong.

THINK:
-Can you remember a time in your childhood when you acted out rebelliously (drawing on walls, shoving oatmeal in air vents, or torturing a little brother) and a parent walked into the room?
-If your relationship with your parent was one of love and respect, how did that feel? What was your response?

PRAY & WORSHIP:
Ask God to show you His glory – just as Moses asked. Pray that the King of Glory may come into our hearts, our homes, our lives, and our church.

“Who is the King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates, and lift them up, O ancient doors that the King of Glory may come in! Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of Glory. Selah.”
(Psalm 24:8-10)
